08/07/2008 [Thursday] 6 pm
California Historical Society
678 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA, 94105, (415)391-1188

Connie Young Yu, CHSA Board Member, historian and author of Chinatown, San Jose, USA will share her knowledge of and involvement in Heilenville, the San Jose Chinatown and multicultural community that has been transformed into today's Japantown.

As a descendant of the Heilenville community, Yu and her family were central to the creation of San Jose's Ng Shin Gung museum. Yu will also discuss newly emerging results of an archaeological excavation taking place at the site of her grandparent's store.
