CHSA Museum marches in the 2012 Chinese New Year Parade
CHSA Museum volunteers and members had the opportunity to march in the 2012 San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade with Wells Fargo and the Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC). Special banners featuring the Jake Lee Heritage Paintings were also part of the parade procession. Costumes were loaned to us courtesy of the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown. We are also greatly appreciative to Ben Fong-Torres, who joined us earlier in the day to speak about his memoir, for mentioning CHSA during KTVU's broadcast of the Chinese New Year Parade. CHSA Co-Presents 2 Programs at SFIAAFF 2012
The CHSA Museum is proud to be a co-presenter at the 2012 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF). The Center for Asian America Media presents the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival every March, now celebrating its 30th Anniversary. The SFIAAFF is the largest and most prestigious showcase for new Asian American and Asian films in North America, annually presenting approximately 120 works in San Francisco, Berkeley and San Jose. The CHSA Museum will co-present two programs, "Saving Face" and "Scenes from a Memoir with Cherylene Lee" at the 2012 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival. News Coverage of CHSA’s 10th Anniversary Celebration
Ten years ago, The Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA) opened a Museum in the landmark Julia Morgan-designed Chinatown YWCA Building at 965 Clay Street in San Francisco. On Saturday, November 12, 2011, more than 200 people attended a FREE day-long 10th Anniversary Celebration from 11am to 4pm, featuring lion dancing, exhibits, music, refreshments, and talks on Chinese American art, culture, and history.
